Tell us a bit about yourself
I live in Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands. I have worked with the Chamber of Commerce Network for 12 years, in my role as Director of Business Development for the British Chambers of Commerce, and joined the ChamberCustoms team part time in September 2020.
What do you do at ChamberCustoms?
I’m Head of Sales and Customer Acquisition. ChamberCustoms is only two years old, so I have been tasked with harnessing the reach and expertise of our network and direct marketing activity to grow our innovative business from a start up to a scale up.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
Working with the ChamberCustoms team, small but perfectly formed, they are one of the most collaborative, supportive and ideas driven teams I have had the pleasure to work with.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about customs clearance?
If you’re importing/exporting to Europe, you don’t need a customs declaration. Since January 2021, when we left the EU, businesses that are importing and exporting to the EU need this documentation to ensure they are HMRC compliant. This doesn’t need to be an issue though, Chambers of Commerce are here to help.
What advice would you give a business which is considering exporting overseas?
Speak to your local Chamber of Commerce, they will likely know the answer but if they don’t they will know who will.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Being hostess, next gig at mine is a murder mystery. Live music, Liam Fray, the Lathums, Bruce Springsteen and Pulp to name a few for 2023 and exercising, mainly running and my PT sessions
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?
Flight, so that I didn’t need to rely on trains to get me to and from our office in London.
