This week, we meet our Helpdesk Assistant, Susie. Read on to find out more about Susie’s role within ChamberCustoms, making your own happiness and of course her horse and canine companions.
Tell us a bit about yourself
Hi, I’m Susie. I’ve been with ChamberCustoms for 1 year and have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the best team! I previously worked at North East Chamber of Commerce for 2 years and joined the team to help with Import/Export declarations post Brexit.
What do you do at ChamberCustoms?
I work on the Helpdesk which services all of the Chambers who supply ChamberCustoms.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
The variety! There is always a new question you haven’t been asked but also the ever changing world of Customs means you always have something new to learn.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about customs clearance?
That you can just put in a declaration and all will be well.
What advice would you give a business which is considering exporting overseas?
Do your research and consider seeking professional guidance, it will make the process smoother and less stressful.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Spending time with my animals. I have a horse, Shakir who is an Arab and Banjo my Lurcher dog, they both keep me very busy and active.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
You make your own happiness, if something doesn’t make you happy, change it.
