Question time!
What do you do at ChamberCustoms?
My role involves analysing the import and export entries submitted by the ChamberCustoms agents, looking for discrepancies and trends. This role can be intense at times with all the changes to the legislation but for someone who has always been particular about the finer details; it’s the perfect match.
What’s your favourite bit about your job?
I enjoy working directly with the Chambers of Commerce, helping them understand what we are trying to achieve from the audits, and how we can work together to achieve better compliance outcomes.
What advice would you give a business which is considering exporting overseas?
I don’t think exporters always realise how much information is needed to allow a compliant export to be processed. It is always best to do your homework first. Find out about the rules for export in the UK and the regulations at the destination. This is especially important if you are shipping to a sensitive country where there might be additional sanctions requiring licences which can take weeks to be granted.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I enjoy cooking, yoga, and love travelling when I get the opportunity. I recently spent 4 years in Houston, Texas which was a great base for reaching different US cities which helped develop my culinary repertoire, while satisfying the travelling bug at the same time.
